Devotion That Defines You
The Shema — the central confession of Jewish faith — begins with the greatest commandment in the Torah: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." It was meant to be recited daily, worn on the body, inscribed on doorframes, taught to children at every teachable moment. The intention was that the love of God would not be a compartment of life but the defining reality that shaped every other compartment. Devotion of this kind does not happen accidentally. It is cultivated — intentionally, repeatedly, across time. Think about the most devoted people you know — the ones whose faith is clearly the organizing principle of their whole life, not just their Sunday morning. That depth of devotion did not appear overnight. It was built through years of choosing God in small moments: choosing prayer over distraction, choosing honesty over convenience, choosing generosity over comfort, choosing worship over worry. Devotion that defines you is not about intensity of emotion. Emotions change. It is about the consistent choices that, over time, form your character and shape your identity. When people think of you, is your love for God one of the first things that comes to mind? Not as a badge you wear, but as a reality that is simply obvious from the way you live? That is the goal. Not spiritual performance — but genuine, all-consuming love for God that naturally overflows into everything you say and do. This month, let your devotion deepen. Let it spread from Sunday into Saturday, from your church life into your home life, from your public moments into your private ones. Let love for God be the thing that defines you.
Deuteronomy 6:5
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength."
Today's Prayer
Lord, I want devotion to You to define me — not as a label I wear but as a reality that is evident in my daily life. Deepen my love for You today. Make it more than habit. Make it the true center of who I am. Amen.
Today's Action Step
Choose one daily practice this month that deepens your devotion — reading Scripture at a consistent time, praying before meals, or writing one thing you are grateful for each night.

Hope.
Healing.
Empowerment.
