I Am Forgiven
There is a verse that has been a lifeline for generations of people carrying the weight of guilt: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." First John 1:9 is not complicated. It does not require you to have paid your debt first, to have cleaned yourself up before approaching God, or to have proven that you will not fail again. It simply says: confess, and He forgives. But let's look deeper. John says God is faithful and just to forgive. The word "just" there surprises people. Justice would seem to demand punishment for sin, not forgiveness. But through the cross of Jesus, justice was already served. Jesus took the punishment that our sin deserved. So when God forgives you, He is not looking the other way or bending the rules. He is honoring what Christ accomplished. His forgiveness is fully just because the price has already been paid. This means your forgiveness is not a flimsy mercy that might be revoked. It is a settled transaction backed by the blood of Jesus. It is as permanent and secure as the cross itself. Many people receive forgiveness in their minds but not in their hearts. They say the prayer, they believe the doctrine, but the guilt lingers. They keep revisiting what was already dealt with. If that is you, today's invitation is to actually receive what God has already given. The word "purify" in the verse means to cleanse completely. Not partially. Not provisionally. Completely. God does not forgive you and then hold your past over you. He cleanses you and calls you clean. You are forgiven today — not because you deserve it, but because Jesus did what you could not. Walk in that freedom. The weight you have been carrying does not belong to you anymore.
1 John 1:9
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
Today's Prayer
Father, thank You for the gift of forgiveness. I confess that I have held onto guilt You already dealt with. Help me to receive Your forgiveness fully today — not just as a doctrine but as a living reality. I am forgiven, and I want to live like it. Amen.
Today's Action Step
Write down one thing you have been carrying guilt over. Then write '1 John 1:9 — Forgiven and Purified' over it. If you feel led, tear it up as an act of receiving God's cleansing.

Hope.
Healing.
Empowerment.
