I Am Secure

Jesus made one of the most reassuring promises in the Bible in John 10:28-29: "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand." Picture two hands — the hand of Jesus and the hand of the Father — and you held securely between them. Nothing can get to you without going through both. This is the picture Jesus paints of your security in Him. Spiritual security is something many believers struggle with. Questions surface like: What if I sin too much? What if my faith wavers? What if God changes His mind about me? These questions are understandable, but they misplace the source of security. Your security is not based on the strength of your grip on God — it is based on the strength of His grip on you. And His grip does not fail. Eternal life, as Jesus describes it in John's gospel, is not just about duration — it is about quality. It is a kind of life that begins when you come to Christ and continues uninterrupted because it flows from the One who is life Himself. You cannot have that life and then lose it due to a bad week or a bad season. Security in Christ also produces a different kind of person. When you know you are secure, you do not have to prove yourself or protect yourself at every turn. You can take risks, show grace, love freely, and live generously — because your identity and your future are not up for debate. They are settled. You are held. Not by your own ability to maintain your faith, but by the grip of a Savior who gave His life for you and will not let you go. Rest in that today. You are more secure than you feel.

John 10:28-29

"I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand."

Today's Prayer

Jesus, thank You for holding me in Your hand. On days when I feel spiritually unstable or uncertain, remind me that my security rests in Your grip, not mine. Help me live from that place of settled peace, knowing that no one and nothing can snatch me from You. Amen.

Today's Action Step

Write John 10:28 on your hand (literally) today as a reminder that you are held — and let it prompt you to share the concept with one person.
