Poured Out and Overflowing
On the last and greatest day of the Feast of Tabernacles — when priests would pour out water as a symbol of God's provision — Jesus stood up and said something that stopped everyone in their tracks: "Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them." Rivers. Not a trickle. Not a puddle. Rivers — plural, powerful, moving. Jesus was describing the inner life of a person filled with the Holy Spirit. Not a person who has figured everything out or who has their life perfectly arranged. Just a person who believes — and through that belief, has become a conduit for the living water of God's Spirit. This is the culminating image of August's theme. A poured-out life is not a depleted life. It is a life so connected to the source that rivers flow through it continuously — bringing life to everything they touch. You do not have to manufacture the rivers. You do not have to strain for the flow. You just have to stay connected to Jesus — believing, abiding, returning to Him again and again. When you do, the rivers flow. They flow into your home, your workplace, your community, your relationships. They carry life. They carry peace. They carry hope. They carry truth. As August ends, take stock of where the rivers are flowing from your life. Where have you been a source of life for others this month? Where have you poured out and watched God fill you back up? And going forward — stay connected to the source. Let the rivers keep flowing. A poured-out life that keeps returning to Jesus is a life that never runs dry — and a life that blesses everyone downstream.
John 7:38
"Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them."
Today's Prayer
Jesus, I want rivers of living water to flow from my life. Keep me connected to You — the source of everything. As I pour out, fill me. As I give, replenish me. Let my life be a river of blessing to everyone around me, now and always. Amen.
Today's Action Step
As you close out August, write down two or three specific ways your life has been poured out for others this month. Celebrate what God did through your surrender — and commit to continuing into September.

Hope.
Healing.
Empowerment.
