Strength for the Second Half

Isaiah 40:31 is a verse for people who are tired: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." The promise of renewed strength is given to those who wait on — or hope in — the Lord. Not those who have it all figured out. Not those who never get tired. Those who hope in Him. At the mid-point of the year, some people are still running strong. Others are worn out. The dreams and resolutions of January have met the reality of everyday life, and the second half of the year can feel like climbing uphill with heavy legs. If that is where you are, Isaiah 40 is written for you. Waiting on the Lord does not mean doing nothing. It means maintaining a posture of active dependence — staying in prayer, staying in Scripture, staying connected to God even when you do not feel like it. It means refusing to draw only on your own reserves and instead returning again and again to the Source who does not run dry. Eagles do not flap their wings constantly. They learn to catch the thermal currents and soar. The effort is minimal because they have found a force much greater than their own wing power. That is what it looks like to hope in God — to stop flapping and start soaring by the power He provides. The second half of this year does not have to run on yesterday's energy. There is fresh strength available to you today — not from trying harder, but from hoping deeper. Return to God. Renew your hope. Soar.

Isaiah 40:31

"but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Today's Prayer

Lord, I need Your strength for what is still ahead this year. Where I have grown weary, renew me. Where I have lost hope, restore it. Help me to wait on You — not passively, but with active, expectant faith — and experience the renewed strength You promise. Amen.

Today's Action Step

Write down two or three goals you want to accomplish before the end of the year. Pray over them specifically today and ask God for the strength and direction to pursue them.
