When God Fills You
Paul gives a striking command in Ephesians 5:18: "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit." The comparison is intentional. Both wine and the Spirit change behavior, alter perception, and affect how you interact with the world around you. But one leads to loss of control and destruction, while the other leads to joy, worship, and life. To be filled with the Spirit is to allow God's presence to overflow every area of your being — your thoughts, your emotions, your will, your words, your actions. It is the antidote to the emptiness that the world offers and cannot fill. Notice that this is a command — not a suggestion or a promise for special Christians. Be filled. And the verb tense in the original language is continuous: keep being filled, go on being filled. This is not a one-time experience but an ongoing reality. The Spirit does not just fill you once and leave you to coast. He fills you as you remain in fellowship with God — through prayer, worship, Scripture, and community. If you have ever felt spiritually dry, if the passion of faith has cooled, if you are going through the motions but your heart is not engaged — the answer is not trying harder. It is being filled again. Return to the practices that position you to receive. Ask the Holy Spirit to come. He is not distant. He lives inside you. And He is always ready to fill — you just need to make room by pouring out the things that have crowded Him out. Ask to be filled today, and then make the choices that keep the connection open.
Ephesians 5:18
"Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,"
Today's Prayer
Holy Spirit, fill me — completely, continuously, fully. Drive out the things that have crowded You out and replace them with Your presence and Your power. I want to live overflowing with Your joy, Your peace, and Your love. Come and fill me now. Amen.
Today's Action Step
Begin each morning this week with a simple prayer: 'Holy Spirit, fill me today.' Then pay attention to how your interactions and attitudes shift throughout the day.

Hope.
Healing.
Empowerment.
