Acts 16:6-7 contains a detail that could easily be skipped: "Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to." The Holy Spirit said no. Twice. Paul and his team had plans — good plans, gospel-advancing plans. But God redirected them. And when He did, they did not plant their feet and argue. They adjusted. That redirection led them to Macedonia — and to Lydia, and to the founding of the church in Philippi, and to one of the most fruit-producing missionary journeys in history. What felt like a closed door was actually God setting up a better one. Redirection from God does not feel good in the moment. It can feel like failure, like waste, like being lost. When the thing you were moving toward does not open up, when the prayer goes unanswered the way you expected, when the plan falls through — it is natural to feel confused or disappointed. But Acts 16 reminds us that God's no is always preparation for a better yes. He is not closing doors to frustrate you. He is orchestrating something larger than your current view can see. The question when God redirects is not "What went wrong?" It is "Where is He leading instead?" Stay alert. Stay flexible. The Macedonia of your life — the place where God is actually sending you — may be just past the door that just closed.
